Principal's Message                        Mensaje de la Directora

 Dear Ygnacio Valley Elementary Families,

As we start our Fall Season, I would like to share with your important information regarding school goals, and attendance.

Our school goals are: 1. to address the Priority Standards and ensure all of our children have strategies to master them, 2. to help students identify the differences between Bullying and Conflict and have tools to face both; and 3. to find ways to increase Parent Engagement.

In reflecting about these goals, we have a dedicated teaching and classified staff who works relentlessly towards providing our children social, emotional and academic support. Classroom teachers have been working on the implementation of a new Language Arts curriculum with an emphasis on meeting the priority standards. They also have delved deep into strategies that best address the Mathematics Frameworks.

Bullying and Conflict is a concept that is at the forefront of our daily work. Students have been learning about the differences between bullying and conflict. On the other hand, kindness is a powerful tool to prevent bullying. Click HERE to learn more about the positive influence of KINDNESS. Our staff will be working on Kindness Challenges throughout the school year. You will receive more information from your teachers. #kindnessmatter

As far as Parent Engagement, we have been working on different venues to establish and maintain a positive partnership between school and the community. Some include: Eagle Day, Welcome Breakfast, Back to School Night, Call Home,  ELAC meetings, Platicas, Title I meeting, School web applications and PTA. We are very excited to announce that we will host our first Art Gala. Please, visit our PTA page in this website to learn about more opportunities to connect and participate in upcoming school events. #familiaYVE

As I shared at Back to School Night, attendance is extremely important as it gives our children the opportunity to maximize their learning. Elementary School attendance is the foundation for access to a College and/or Career. See this video on attendance for more information. Please, make doctor's appointments after school so your child does not miss school. I thank you in your efforts to ensure your child is on time and at school every day. #attendanceworks

Fondly,

Mrs. Orellana
